Director of Children & Family Ministries Position

Thank you for considering our opportunity.  We are looking for a faith-filled, committed individual to serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team of the church, alongside the three pastors, participating in discussions of strategy by adding the perspective of the family and children's ministries.  The ideal candidate will have worked in a large church setting and a background in change management, as well as several years of ministry experience and/or formal education.  We desire to hire a creative-thinking, self-starter who excels at recruiting and developing volunteers.  This person will lead a support staff that currently includes several paid program assistants and hundreds of committed volunteers.  This church is committed to continuing education and prefers staff members who actively look for opportunities for professional advancement.

First Presbyterian Church, or FirstChurch, as it is known, is a PC(USA) congregation that worships nearly 600 every Sunday morning at two campuses.  We are excited about our future as a multi-site church and welcome inquiries about your potential ministry here.

FirstChurch was founded in Champaign, IL in 1867.  Champaign is the home of the University of Illinois, a world-class academic institution and member of the Big Ten conference.  Many members of the church are University and business leaders, sharing a common heritage of service to the community.  Our strong children and youth programs assist several hundred families communicate our faith to the next generation.  With the launch of our second campus in southwest Champaign in September 2007, we are poised to reach many more families in this highly populated, growing residential area.  This opportunity presents a challenge to an energetic, visionary leader to help us craft our programs to serve our members into the new era.
