Miscellaneous

There are a variety of other ways that you can volunteer and serve the youth of FirstChurch, from prayer to childcare, from leading a mission trip to playing a part in available workshops.

Prayer

We need a group of people to pray specifically for the youth of our church, the programs for them and the adult and teen leaders involved. We will email a list of prayer concerns on a regular basis so you can pray at home.If you are interested in serving on the prayer team or have a question about it, contact Cathy Schowengerdt.

Follow Me Mission Trip Leader

Adult leaders are needed to go on Follow Me with the students. Leaders do all that the students do—working, eating, recreation, Bible study, sleeping—sharing leadership responsibilities. Requirements: like middle school students, have stamina. The church pays the cost for leaders.

Childcare

While we have some paid childcare workers to provide consistency for our youngest children, we use volunteers at times as we try to provide childcare whenever we have programs involving parents.  If you are willing to have your name on a list, sign up for this delightful task.  We will call you when needed and you can say "yes" or "no" depending on your availability.

Parent/Family Workshops

We are presenting a wide variety of opportunities for parents through the Adult Education classes, Mom's Angels outreach to parents of preschoolers, Family and Student Session Team projects, Mission for All Ages weekends, plus some new ways to encourage and equip parents.  All of these opportunities take volunteers to make them happen.  If you have a heart for parents and families, sign up here and let us know whether you'd like to teach parenting classes, (Continue Reading...)

Special Talents

If you have a special talent or an idea you would like to share with the youth of our church, please speak up! Maybe you have a special story of faith you'd like to tell, a collection of something you'd like to show, an idea from another church that you think is terrific. Whatever it is, please talk to Cathy Schowengerdt at 217.356.7238!

Costumes Coordinators and Makers

Our church has quite a few costumes and props for dramatic presentations and we use these quite a bit for classes as well as productions. These are kept in a closet in the church building and we need a coordinator who would inventory what we have, organize things to make them easy to find, straighten things on occasion and be in touch with costume makers to build our collection as needed.Seamstresses also are needed to (Continue Reading...)
