About Champaign
The "twin cities" of Champaign-Urbana (C-U), in Champaign County, Illinois have much to offer visitors and residents. As the home of the University of Illinois, one of the premiere research institutions in the country, the community is highly educated and internationally diverse.
Often referred to as the "Silicon Prairie," Champaign County is the home of many high tech companies with ties to the University. Opportunities abound, and the proximity of the University helps to create a stable economic climate.
Champaign-Urbana is a clean, friendly city. While the community is the home to more than 140,000 people when school is in session, we maintain a small town feel with resources that rival much larger cities.
Located in East Central Illinois, we are two hours South of Chicago, two hours West of Indianapolis, and three hours Northeast of St. Louis. Access to Champaign is easy: flights operate daily to our local airport and three Interstates converge here.
