Adult Mission Trips

Adults take “Mission Possible” trips each May through June to Presbyterian camp and conference centers working on their facilities in preparation for the summer sessions.

Mission Possible is an adult group founded in 1992 by the Rev. Dale Tutje. About 25-30 members make one trip per year to a Presbyterian Church camp for the purpose of assistance in construction and repairs. The majority of our members are retired but we have a few that take vacation time on go on these mission trips. We spend a full week at the camp, arriving on a Sunday afternoon and leaving the following Saturday. We’ll work approximately 8 hours/day with 1/2 day off to see local attractions.  

Some of the jobs performed by the Mission Possible Team are: 

• Built cabins - platforms for sleeping quarters, painting, installed dry wall, built fences,wallpapered, made new curtains and pillows for chairs, electrical work, plumbing, flooring, installed doors & windows, planted flowers, built bunk beds
• Angel Tree Christmas project - built rocking horses
• Women In Transition - Finished a complete room, flooring , stairs and railing, and misc. other items in their new house.
• A Woman's Fund - Built room divider and ladders for 21 bunk beds (currently in progress).
• Empty Tomb - Worked on repairing homes.
• Katrina Hurricane - Repaired a home in Rantoul for a Katrina family.
• Camp Carew ( our church camp at Carbondale) - Since 2003, worked on various projects including construction of 2 cabins (still in progress).  Requirements for Mission Possible Team participation: 
• Have meals prepared by camp staff.
• Have beds to sleep (bunk beds ok) and can bring own linens.
• Roofing is often needed at the camps but it whether or not we will take on the job depends upon the individual members . We are open to discussion on these projects.
• Space to have daily devotional meetings.
